Working in the inbox
Inbox colours and categories
Give each inbox a colour and group inboxes into categories in the sidebar.
Give every inbox its own colour and group your inboxes into categories, so your team can tell channels, brands or branches apart at a glance. Colours and categories are set by administrators; everyone on the team sees them.
Pick a colour for an inbox
- Go to Settings → Inboxes and open the inbox.
- Under Inbox colour, choose one of the 8 colours (Blue, Teal, Green, Cyan, Violet, Pink, Amber, Slate), or None.
- The preview shows how the inbox will look. Save the settings.
The colour appears next to the inbox in the sidebar, on every conversation in the conversation list and in the conversation header, so you know where a message came from before you open it.
Create categories
- Go to Settings → Inboxes and press Manage categories.
- Press New category, type a name (up to 60 characters) and press Add.
- Rename a category, or move it up or down to set the order it appears in. Save when you are done.
An account can have up to 30 categories, and each name is used once. The list is the same for the whole team.
Put an inbox in a category
Open the inbox in Settings → Inboxes and choose its Category. In the inbox list, every inbox that has no category yet shows a Choose a category link that takes you straight there.
Categories in the sidebar
Under Channels, the sidebar groups your inboxes by category, in the order you set. Inboxes without a category sit last, under Uncategorised. Collapse a category you rarely need: the choice is yours alone and is remembered for you. When your inbox shows unread counts, a collapsed category shows the combined count of its inboxes, so nothing slips past.
Delete a category
Deleting a category does not delete its inboxes or their conversations. The inboxes move to Uncategorised, and you can put them in another category at any time.
